Hello teacher friends,
I am so excited to announce that I’m changing grade levels next year. My husband and I have decided to move to Florida! Part of me thinks that if it weren’t for the pandemic we wouldn’t have made this decision, but part of me has always wanted to live where there are more beaches, sunshine (and let’s be honest Disney World). I’m feeling like Moana and the sea and sunshine are calling my name. We also have family in Florida, which makes this a little bit easier. My mom is planning to live full-time less than an hour away. So… there is a lot of change happening for my family in the next few months. We are saying goodbye to our first home and packing up to move in July. I hope to document some of this progress and talk about packing up my classroom and moving grade levels and states. Thanks for joining me, I hope you stick around for this new adventure.

So what grade level am I going to teach?
First grade has always been a sweet spot for me, it’s where students build their foundational reading skills and solidify their understanding of place value. There is also something so magical about this age level where anything can happen. While I love first grade, I’m ready for some fresh opportunities and change. I’ve accepted a position for third grade! While changing grade levels can be stressful, I’m trying to get as prepared as possible before we move. Right now I’m in the process of doing research on the curriculum I’ll be teaching, but I’m so excited about this opportunity. Many teachers are hesitant to take on state testing grade levels, but I’m totally up for this challenge and I look forward to seeing how much my students will grow. Who knows, maybe third grade will turn out to be my favorite grade level.
